About Maydolong

Maydolong is one of the 23 municipalities of the province of Eastern Samar. Its eastern part faces the Pacific Ocean.

NATURAL BOUNDARIES:
It is bounded on the north by the City Borongan, particularly the Suribao River, on its southeastern portion it is bounded by the Municipality of Balangkayan, on the southwestern part it is bounded by the Municipality of Llorente. In the west, it is bounded by the municipalities of Basey and Calbiga, Western Samar.


GEOGRAPHICAL COORDINATES:
It is approximately located at 125-degrees, 27- minutes east longitude and at 11-degrees, 27-minutes north latitude.

LOCATION FROM PROVINCIAL CAPITAL:
It is barely 21 kilometers or a 30-minute drive away from Borongan City, the provincial capital. Maydolong is accessible by land through the National Highway.

LAND AREA:
The municipality has a total land area of 41,380 hectares which represents 9.26% of the total land area of the province. It is the 3rd largest municipal land area in the province.

BARANGAYS:
Maydolong has twenty (20) barangays; seven (7) are in the poblacion, four (4) are along the National Highway and nine (9) are situated at the upland area of the municipality. Among these barangays, Bgy. Patag which is the farthest from the municipal center has the biggest land area of more or less 22,201 hectares. Canloterio is next with 3,140 hectares followed by Tagaslian with 2,754 hectares. The seven (7) poblacion barangays have an aggregate land area of only 302 hectares.
